The Hanze Studentenbelangen Vereniging is the oldest and largest student advocacy organization at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. The Hanze Studentenbelangen Vereniging is internally divided into a board and a faction. The faction holds seats in the University Council.

The Hanze Studentenbelangen Vereniging represents the students of Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. The University Council is divided into a student delegation and a staff delegation. The student delegation currently consists of two parties: the Association Lijst Student Erkend (Lijst STERK) and, of course, the Hanze Studentenbelangen Vereniging.

In the council, the different parties, despite their differing ideologies, work together to safeguard the rights of the students. The staff delegation consists of nine individuals, seven of whom are faculty members and two are members of the educational support staff.

The University Council discusses monthly issues that are important for the entire Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. Once a month, the Board of Directors attends a council meeting. During these sessions, the Hanze Studentenbelangen Vereniging endeavors to convey what students want and how education should be structured according to the students' opinions.
